Know Your Worth (By :- Oreoluwa Osuntuyi

What do you see when you look in the mirror? Do you see failure? Inadequacy? An endless struggle? Darkness? Step into the light. Change your mind set. Change how you see yourself. Change your life.
Stop waiting for other people’s opinions to validate you. Forget what your Mother, Father, Sister, Brother, Aunty, Uncle, Cousin or Boyfriend has said about you. Those are just opinions. God created you in his own image and yes he created you for greatness.
There is a strong powerful woman inside of you. She is beautiful and graceful. She is bold and fearless. She is smart and talented. She has a well of potential just waiting to be tapped into. But she is slowly being suffocated by your insecurities and fears. She is crying to be released but you’re not confident enough to let her out.
They say you’re not beautiful? But I ask what is the standard of beauty? Is it Angelia Jolie or Rihanna? Is it Omotola Jalade Ekeinde or Genevieve? What is in their hearts? That is real beauty. When the breasts begin to sag and the next generation of beauties come along, who will remember them? Why are we holding ourselves to ransom? Holding ourselves to a standard of beauty that is unachievable?
The models in the magazines are airbrushed to perfection, a lot of them starve themselves. I read a story yesterday about how they pull their teeth out to look slimmer. Are you ready for this? They say you’re poor. I have 2 questions? Does money bring you joy? How many millionaires today came from humble beginnings?
Its not about where you’re coming from, it’s where you’re going. Tap into your potential and you will get there. They say you’ve slept with every man in the area. But why is it okay for a man to sleep around? Don’t let these hypocrites hold you to ransom, they are not your maker. They say you’re damaged goods, I say you’re renewed in Christ. Old things have passed away and a new time has come for you.
Stand in the mirror and tell yourself “I AM STRONG, I AM BEAUTIFUL, I AM FRUITFUL, I AM JUSTIFIED AND REDEEMED, I AM WISE, I AM SANCTIFIED, I AM BLESSED, I AM AN AMAZING WOMAN IN CHRIST, I AM PREDESTINED FOR GREATNESS”. Do this every day, say it like you mean it and you’ll begin to know and understand your worth.

Love & Life

In the blink of an eye, slowly everything changes. You are not so young anymore, you  no longer believe in fairy tales and perfect isn’t in your vocabulary.
Suddenly here is this man/woman and he/she becomes so familiar to you that one day you find yourself looking at him/her thinking I could love this person for he rest of my life if I tried, and I want to try.
The reason our knees get weak when we fall in love ( I guess not for everyone) is because of the long walk it took to find that person. You have no choice but to cherish every moment, I know I will.
Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength; loving someone deeply gives you courage. So being in love and being loved by someone is the greatest gift ever and not everyone gets to experience that feeling.
Good relationships don’t just happen; they take time, patience and two people who truly want to be together against all odds.
You get in the biggest fights with people you care about the most, because they are the relationships you’re willing to fight for and that’s all that matters. You have to embrace every moment with the person you love because you never know when things would change.
Most people don’t believe in touchy-feely stuff, they see it as a waste of time because they think they can never get hurt. Some people (like me) put a big wall up to protect themselves from getting hurt,  not giving anyone a chance. You have to break down that wall, give yourself a chance to be loved and if it doesn’t work out that is a learning process you have to go through.
Falling in love is easy, staying in love is a challenge, letting go is hard and moving on is the hardest part. The future is unwritten, anyone that is meant for you will always be yours. He/she would find his/her way to you no matter where you are.
Life is so unpredictable, fragile. We are only allowed one heart beat at a time. Sometimes you have to allow life turn you upside down so that you can learn how to live the right way.

Time

Do you get to wonder how long it takes to change your life? What measure of time is enough to be life-altering? Is it six years like high school? Four years in college? Can your life change in a month or a week or a single day? We’re always in a hurry to grow up, to go places, to get ahead. But when you’re young, one hour can change everything.
Someone once said “Time heals all wounds” but what people don’t know is that those scars the wounds leave behind represent painful things that happen to us, which leave  permanent marks. They don’t necessarily hurt anymore but they are always there as a reminder, as a memory and as time passes maybe the memory gets a little fussy.
We always have the scars to remind us it happened, that we lived through it, that we survived. And maybe I have some scars on me, but I feel like I’m now ready to leave my mark on the world.
Letting go of people or traditions is hard and it takes time because you invest so much in them. Letting go can be scary but it can also be liberating or even a center to your happiness. If you do not let go, you can find yourself in a dark place unable to kick your worst habits. Sometimes if we truly love someone, we have to be okay with letting go and in time healing sets in.

Happiness

Sometimes pain becomes such a huge part of your life that you expect it to always be there, because you can’t remember a time in your life when it wasn’t.

Then one day, you feel something else, something that feels wrong, but only because it is so unfamiliar and in that moment you realize you are happy.
We all have too much to be thankful for to stay unhappy too long. When you laugh as much as you breathe, that is when you realize how beautiful life really is.
Happiness knocks on your door, all you have to is let it in. Its the opposite of sorrow but sometimes it comes and goes, you just have to look for ways to make it last for long. But without sorrow, pain, heartache etc. we can’t learn and without learning we can’t grow.
Happiness comes in many forms; in the company of good friends, in the feeling you get when you make someone’s dream come true, or the promise of hope renewed. It’s okay to let yourself be happy, because you never know how fleeting the happiness might be.
Sometimes happiness doesn’t come from fame or power, sometimes it comes from good friends, family and from the quiet nobility of living a good life. So take a look in that mirror and remind yourself to be happy because you deserve to be; believe that and believe that dreams come true everyday because they do.

Choosing the Perfect Blog Name: The Goat That Wrote

The Daily Post

Our Q&As with WordPressers on how they chose their blog names, from Talking Covers to Museum in a Bottle, have been wildly popular. We recently chatted with another WordPress.com blogger, Ian “Goat” Fraser, about how his blog name, The Goat That Wrote, came about.

The Goat That Wrote

What’s the story behind your blog name, The Goat That Wrote?

The year 2010 was big for me, with a 2,000-mile walk in the US and three months living with a girlfriend in Switzerland (to see if it would work). It didn’t, but the walking was great! I was then back home in Australia, broke and glum and kinda stranded, so I started a blog.
